Mosaic GT-2 Dream Build with Gee Milner
Film maker, photographer, and definitely an all-round ‘gee’, Gee Milner is still producing the most stunning videos for his 772k YouTube followers. That’s because he’s super passionate about what he does and won’t let a little thing like a global pandemic stop him. And we’re mega passionate about what we do too… match made in heaven, right? Right.
Recently (June 2021) we teamed up with Gee again to make another Dream Build video, the fourth we’ve done with him so far. The usually camera-shy Stephen, founder and director of The Bike Tailor, makes an appearance in this one. And it’s all based around a very cool custom-built bike using a Mosaic frame…
Mosaic GT-2: from Boulder to gravel
This is a project bike for our showroom. We used a frame from Mosaic, a brand based in Boulder, Colorado. Mosaic is one of our select brands, handpicked by Stephen after painstakingly assessing their methods with a magnifying glass (well, visiting their factory and chatting to them about what they do over a nice cup of Joe, anyway).
This being a fun project piece, we spiced it up a bit and decided to complement the cool silver frame with a neon, tiger-stripe painted fork stem and seat post. Have a look in more detail at how we made this bike – it might just be something you could ride one day too.
How did we piece this Mosaic together…?
- Mosaic GT-2 frame
- Chris King matt finished mango hubs and headset
- Thomson aluminium gravel bars and cockpit
- Enve bar stem and fork with green and orange paintwork
- SRAM AXS force shifter and break set
- SRAM XO1 AXS rear mech assist
- SRAM XO1 Eagle XG-1295 Cassette 12 speed 10-52t
According to Mosaic the GT-2 is described as follows: “Mixing design elements of traditional road and off-road frame specs, the GT-2 features Mosaic’s straight gauge tubeset for comfort and compliance for a long day in the saddle. Titanium can take the abuse of riding all year, in any climate, without worry of corrosion or denting with minimal care.”
In short, this bike has hardcore strength and fantastic comfort. (A bit like a roll of Andrex but it copes better when taken out in the rain.)
The frame itself is finished in a very cool, brushed silver colour. So, we decided to pair the frame with something that has a bit of zing: an Enve fork and seatpost, finished with neon orange and green tiger stripes.
We also added a Chris King headset and matching hubs in their delightful Matte Mango colour. SRAM, a favourite of The Bike Tailor for their innovation and reliability, was used for everything gears based. Like what you see?
