Parlee Chebacco Gravel Bike
Feel I’m goin’ back to Massachusetts
This bike is from Essex. Not the Essex in the south east of England, but north of Boston, Massachusetts. Once upon a time, Essex was known as Chebacco Parish. Today, centuries-old roads, paths and trails make it a perfect place for adventurous rides—if you have the right bike.
Good job Parlee are on hand! Just like the awesome bike trails, they are based in Massachusetts and named this amazing bike after the place that’s so close to their hearts.
I custom built this particular version of their gravel bike, the Parlee Chebacco. Here’s what I used:
The components
- Shimano GRX Di2 groupset
- Praxis carbon crank
- Ergon saddle
- Spengle carbon tri-spoke wheels 650B set up (they are actually mountain bike wheels but work really well with this bike)
Labelled ‘the road rider’s gravel bike’ by cyclingtips.com this lightweight carbon frame is designed to take you on almost any ride, not just gravel. So I guess you could call it an ‘adventure’ bike, in the truest sense of the word.
With this great frame from one of our trusted, favourite brands, we added a Shimano GRX Di2 groupset. Shimano is of course a name that everyone knows when it comes to gears, and this particular model is just great for being reliable and solid.
A Praxis carbon crank provides lightness, stiffness, and as much versatility as the bike itself. A comfortable Ergon saddle allows the king to sit comfortably on his throne, and the Spengle carbon tri-spoke wheels again bring lightness, strength, and vital responsiveness. For me, there was no other make of wheel that would be better for this bike.
This is a really lovely, all-round bike. What do you think?
The Bike Tailor fitting service
As we build, we use your measurements for optimum position and comfort to create a bike that can become an extension of you. Bike fitting is essential for a custom bike, otherwise, what’s the point?
Great rides, low injury rate, and as many amazing adventures as you desire.
How much for a custom build?
Once you’ve told us what you want from your bike, we’ll select the perfect componentry so it’s just right, just for you. Costs vary on that basis, but we will say that there may not be much difference between a mediocre ‘off the peg’ bike and a perfectly tailored bike fitted to you.
