Cool custom paint on a superb aero bike

OK, so The Bike Tailor loves Parlee’s RZ-7, released in late 2019. That’s a given. 

Many people choose RZ-7 for its aerodynamism. That’s because it is light in weight and slim in form. Like a greyhound! 

Parlee themselves say: “…speed is nothing without ride quality. The ultimate blend of stiffness, efficiency, weight and performance also features ride quality unrivaled by any other aero machine. That means more PRs with less fatigue.”

Let’s break down this custom bike build

• Parlee RZ-7 frame (small) 
• Custom painted in turquoise by Alastair at Fat Creations 
• Enve Foundation 45 wheels
• Shimano Altegra Di2 groupset 
• Rotor aluminium crank, 172.5 mm
• 5034T chain rings 
• Vittoria Corsa tubeless ready racing tyres, 700x 25c

The frame is of course the number one component for creating an aerodynamic bike. This is a small frame, which means the lowest weight in the range. It also means there is low aerodynamic drag and supreme torsional stiffness, for increased efficiency and power.

We are lucky enough to have access to Shimano Altegra Di2 groupsets this year. We’re one of the lucky few bike makers who have these in stock for our builds and we love them for their smooth and easy nature. 

Enve Foundation wheels paired with Vittoria Corsa tubeless ready racing tyres really are the way to keep things light and breezy for this aero bike. Enve’s slenderness works great with the aero frame, but even so provides stiffness, strength, and reliability.  

And because riders need style as well as substance, we also used: 

• Fizik Arione carbon saddle
• Fizik bar tape
